Spring has arrived slowly this year, and the cooler weather has delayed some early growth. Our direct-seeded vegetables are just beginning to sprout, with peas and beets planted one to two weeks ago now starting to reach for the sun.
Our greenhouse seedlings are doing well. We have transplanted peppers and tomatoes into larger pots so they can continue to grow until the risk o
f frost has passed and they are ready to move into the field.
Seasonal Highlights and Basket Timing
Our perennials are right on schedule, and asparagus and rhubarb season is about to begin. At this point, we expect produce baskets to be ready in the last couple of weeks of June, though a stretch of warmer weather could move that timeline forward. Either way, we will make sure everyone gets to enjoy asparagus and rhubarb before their season ends.
Weekly Updates and Extras
Once basket season begins, I’ll send a weekly update so you know what to expect and can discover new ideas for enjoying these lovingly grown vegetables.
You’ll also be able to add eggs to your basket. If you choose farm pickup, you’ll also have access to our frozen foods, including:
Grass-fed beef
Bone broth
Pierogi
Highland Patties, made with our grass-fed beef and bone broth for extra flavour and juiciness
