Ahead-of-schedule greenhouse activity and perennial favourites mark spring success!
Subscribers eager for fresh, regeneratively grown vegetables will soon see their tables filled, we have begun our greenhouse and garden operations earlier than ever this year. We feel a renewed enthusiasm for working the soil and observing the vibrant growth of crops as spring unfolds.
Greenhouse production is already well underway, with lettuce, kale, tomatoes, brussel sprouts, cabbage, zucchini, and peppers thriving in controlled conditions. Meanwhile, field beds have been directly seeded with carrots, beets, Swiss chard, and radishes. The garlic, planted last autumn, is now sprouting and displaying healthy growth.
Transplanting efforts are also progressing, particularly for lettuce and brussel sprouts, moving these crops from greenhouse to field to ensure robust yields.
Perennial favourites are making their seasonal appearance. Rhubarb and asparagus are emerging, promising a bounty for spring, with apple blossoms expected to bloom in the coming days.
This April brought a surge in subscriptions for the farm’s produce basket program, culminating in a complete sell-out. We’re finalizing the delivery schedule. Tentative plans indicate that baskets will be distributed at Reco Refillery on Wednesdays, and at Fifth Chute and Golden Gatherings on Fridays.
As the growing season accelerates, Subscribers can look forward to a diverse selection of fresh, locally produced vegetables and fruits, all supported by regenerative farming practices.
